Sorry to burst your bubble…
but PERFECT, just doesn’t exist.
If you think all the work you’re doing is going to produce a PERFECT result, than I caution you to think again.
Perfect is a lie.
Perfect is unrealistic
Perfect is sterile
Perfect is for dreamers
For all of those who ACT we know:
The perfect product just doesn’t happen. It evolves over time.
The perfect job hasn’t been invented. You make it so.
The perfect partner isn’t out there. The person you choose to work with while you make a life is.
Being perfect is frankly impossible (please debate this in the comments – I’m begging to get into this with you).
So I’m going to be quick and to the point today – Here was the question.
What’s does your perfect day look like?
There is no perfect. I believe there is an ideal state or striving for perfection but perfect…that would seem to me like the mystique of life is gone if we can attain perfect.
I’m a golfer.
When you play golf well you see every shot.
You see the ball flight in the air before you’ve even hit the shot. You see the invisible line on the green as you envision your ball rolling into the cup.
Golf is all about trying to be perfect.
But thats’ it. Us golfers are trying to be perfect.
Even the dictionary’s definition of Perfect has it’s doubts
per·fect Adjective - Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. Verb - Make (something) completely free from faults or defects, or as close to such a condition as possible. Noun - The perfect tense.
“As good as it is possible to be” and “as close to” – See even the dictionary doubts it.
I think people should STOP trying to be perfect and live as imperfectly as possible.
For the love of all things holy….TRY and just keep trying.
That’s how innovation is born, laugher is encouraged, play is experienced and growth is achieved.
When I think of a good vision statement for a business I always see the vision statement as something you can’t ever possibly achieve. Your vision statement should be almost unattainable.
To me that’s what Perfect is…unattainable… forcing you to go after life.
a good day for me would be waking up next to Kathy, spending the day in the sun providing opportunities for growth, change and learning, fueling my body with awesome food, getting some exercise and possibly rolling the little white ball in the cup 18 times.
I was serious above… I’m begging you to challenge my thoughts on Perfect. Go for it in the comments below.
As always, I welcome all comments and thoughts.
