Hi. I’m Alan.

I am an entrepreneur, coach, writer & eternal optimist focused on helping you become the person you most want to be.  I’m a dedicated husband and father to my 2 sons.

I live and breathe CHALLENGES.  My entire professional life has been connected to building and designing challenges.  I've built challenges – personal, physical, mental –for people to win, to work as a team, to push themselves, to grow, to learn and to succeed.  It’s all about providing an experience and learning from it.  From TV Survivors to boardroom CEO's to Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge to Starbucks – I've designed and built challenges and then coached people through them.  I have a passion to help others achieve!

Over the years my experiences shaped me into the man I am today.

a high school drop out
a wanderer
a soldier
a wilderness guide
a corporate trainer
an adventure athlete
a keynote speaker
a business consultant
a TV Producer
a writer
a coach

Over the course of my life I’ve had the good fortune to work with brands such as:

Starbucks, MicroSoft, ReeBok, Fast Company, Boeing, CBS, ABC, NBC, CBC, CMT, Discovery.  These companies each brought different challenges my way but I was able to work with them to design experiences and implement solutions that brought long-term value.

So many people today feel like they’re living their lives in a fog.  The “better version of themselves”  being crushed in day to day life - kids, spouse, career and the thousand and one tasks needed to keep everything running like it should.  Living a life treading water…just trying to stay afloat.

But what if we didn’t have to just tread water, what if we could jump headfirst into that water and boldly strike out against the current.  You know that feeling, where you feel like you can take on the world and nothing can stop you. You have it in you but maybe you’ve just lost the ability to tap into it.

I know It’s still there for you…waiting to be unleashed.

I've been lucky.

Back in the 90’s early in my development as a guide/coach/consultant I had a wonderful insight. I stumbled on a nugget of wisdom that has guided my path ever since.  I developed my Definitive Life Purpose.

For months I sat in quiet contemplation and asked myself “What am I here to do and what’s my purpose?” After the soul searching and filling of multiple journals I came to this:

"To provide an opportunity for experiential growth,
change and learning for people of all ages and abilities
in any way, shape or form it shall take."

For the past 25 years I’ve tried to live true to that purpose.  I haven’t always gotten it right because in my heart I’m an experiential learning and sometimes I need to fail in order to make forward progress.  Plans and dreams sometimes take more time or work than anticipated, but through it all I’ve always found that I’m closest to my own “Better” when I stay true to those words.

EFFECT

The 365 Effect is a daily way of living your life where you're committed to Uncovering Your Better and Becoming the person that you want to be.  I've been living this daily lifestyle since 2009.

My guide to Small Daily Actions is designed to help you start the journey of uncovering that part of you again.  My intention with the guide is to allow you to explore and experience a realm of possibilities.  It’s designed to stimulate you.  To encourage you.  To enlighten you of some possible pre-conceived notions of who you are or limits that you may have put onto yourself.  It’s designed to put you into a place - a daily state of being - where you give yourself permission to ask some questions.

At the end of 30 days it will be time to ask yourself this question: Who do I want to become in 365 days?

Do you remember what it felt like to be invincible, to be passionate, to be unstoppable?

It’s time...Let’s get it back.
